Start the 2019 market season off right by attending the Local Food Connects Annual Conference in Santa Fe!
We’ve made the conference shorter, and it’s jammed with quality content to improve your operation
and help you plan for the future! There will also be plenty of time for meaningful, one-on-one conversations with peers and staff!

REGISTRATION:
  • NMFMA membership benefits allow TWO FREE attendees to attend the NMFMA Annual Conference for farmers’ market, coops, and grocery stores.
  • All other membership types benefits allow ONE FREE attendee to attend.
  • Outlets who want to send more than 2 people, or other members who want to send more than one should register as an "Additional Attendee" for $25 each.
  • Non-members interested in attending the Annual Conference pay $75.

Snacks and beverages both days and lunch on Friday.  Dinner and reception on Thursday night at Santa Fe Community College

Hotel Financial Support:
All outlet managers receive hotel reimbursement for one room, one night - Thursday. You will receive a reimbursement check at the conference with a copy of your receipt.
If you choose to stay at another hotel, we will reimburse the same rate as the Comfort Inn.

NOTES:
  • Catherine Baca will be available in the lobby for anyone who wants a tutorial on the NMFMA’s Member website
  • Martin Miller, from the NM Department of Health will have a table in the lobby for one-on-one discussions about the WIC and Senior programs at your markets.
  • NM Farmers' Markets T-shirts, caps, and aprons will be available for purchase (for you and/or your markets).

Are your wholesale customers asking to see your food safety plan?  Are you considering a food safety certification like GAP?  This Tier 2, intermediate workshop will walk you through completing a Risk-Based Food Safety Plan. This risk assessment will be customized to your farm, and will act as your operations manual to ensure continuous improvement and implementation of food safety practices. 

Your completed Risk-Based Food Safety Plan will be benchmarked to the Harmonized GAP standard, preparing you for our Tier 3 training, if you want to achieve GAP certification. The workshop will be led by local Extension Agents and food safety specialists. Please bring a laptop if you would like to complete your Risk-Based Food Safety Plan in Excel. 

Refreshments and materials are included. 

COST FOR ATTENDANCE: This training is FREE for members of the New Mexico Farmers' Marketing Association (NMFMA). Annual NMFMA membership for individual farmers is $25 and includes trainings and many other benefits. If you are not a member, please bring a check or cash to workshop. FOOD SAFETY IS GOOD BUSINESS!
Whether you are new to food safety concepts, would like to learn more about how the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) will impact you, or are thinking about having a third party audit, this introductory training will help you assess your understanding of food safety.

You will leave the training with a basic understanding of what food safety Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) look like on a farm, and next steps for your own farm. The workshop will also ready you for Tier 2 and Tier 3 training where you create a custom Risk-Based Food Safety Plan for your farm, and prepare for a third party audit or produce safety rule compliance. Trainings are conducted by local specialists and extension agents.

Lunch and materials are included. 

COST FOR ATTENDANCE: This training is FREE for members of the New Mexico Farmers' Marketing Association (NMFMA). Annual NMFMA membership for individual farmers is $25 and includes trainings and many other benefits. Cost for non-members is $75.
