The Local Food Connects Conference in 2023 will bring together market managers, farmers, and local food advocates from across the state for two days of information sharing, resources, and inspiration.

CONFERENCE AGENDA 

​March 8: Wednesday
1 - 5 PM.:  Double Up Food Bucks & FreshRx for Existing Participants and Beginners - Mandatory
During this annual workshop presented by Sarah Thompson, Double Up Food Bucks Program Manager, and Kirsten Hansen, FreshRx Program Coordinator (NMFMA), you will learn about important program updates and How To’s that affect your customers, vendors, and communities.

5:30 PM: Join us at a moderately priced local restaurant for dinner. Please note: Everyone will need to pay for their own meal, but we still need a headcount for the restaurant reservation.
Check this option when you register to be counted.

March 9: Thursday
8 AM - 5 PM: 2023 Local Food Connects Annual Conference; Welcome, State of the Plate, Highlights, WIC Training, Breakout Sessions, Lunch, and More
5 - 5:30 PM: NMFMA Board Election                                             
5:30 PM:  Dinner and Social included with registration


March 10: Friday
9 AM - 12 PM: 2023 Local Food Connects Annual Conference; Marketing Resources, Market Governance, "Speed Dating" for Producers and Buyers, Rural and Urban Market Forums 
12-1:15 PM: Lunch with discussions
1:30 - 2:30 PM: 
Santa Fe Community College Greenhouse Tour or Reunity Resources Farm Tour

 
 
 
Registration Information:
  • NMFMA membership benefits allow TWO FREE attendees to attend the NMFMA Annual Conference for farmers' markets, co-ops, and grocery stores
  • All other membership types benefits allow ONE FREE attendee
  • Outlets that want to send more than two people, or other members who want to send more than one, can register as an "Additional Attendee" for $25 each
  • Non-members interested in attending the conference pay $75
  • When you register, please CHECK EVERYTHING that you plan to attend and answer the "yes" or "no" questions.
  • TIP: If you are not a current member, join the NMFMA before March 1, then register as a member and attend the conference for free. 
  • If you are not sure of your membership status, contact Membership Coordinator Catherine Baca.

Included with your registration:

  • Snacks and beverages both days
  • Lunch on Thursday (March 9) and Friday (March 10)
  • Dinner and reception on Thursday night (March 9) at Santa Fe Community College

We have a block of rooms at a special rate for the conference, which includes a hot breakfast. You must make your own room reservation no later than Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at the number above and mention New Mexico Farmers' Marketing Association. You will have to reserve with your credit card information to hold the reservation and pay for your room upon departure. You will be reimbursed at the conference as explained below.

Hotel Financial Support:
  • Farmers' market and other outlet managers will receive hotel reimbursement for up to two nights.
  • Farmers attending the conference Thursday and Friday will receive reimbursement for one night.
  • If you choose to stay at another hotel, we will reimburse the same rate as the Comfort Inn conference rate.
  • A reimbursement check will be written at the conference when you present a copy of your paid receipt.
